Three Schools For Matt Sargeant
Because of his success on the basketball court and in the classroom, Matt Sargeant has placed himself in a unique situation. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound combo guard from Ocean View High School in Huntington, CA., is being recruited by a number of high major programs, but three schools in particular are showing a lot of interest in the California native. Two of those schools happen to be from the Ivy League.
“I would say that Princeton, Stanford and Yale are my top three schools right now,” Sargeant said. “I’m scheduled to officially visit Princeton on October 4, I’ll visit Yale in early September and Yale is coming for an in-home visit on September 9. I am sure the Stanford coaching staff will talk about scheduling an official visit during that time.”

Northwestern is another school that had been showing a great deal of interest in Sargeant, but he has not heard from them as of late.
“Northwestern was showing some interest for a period of time, but I have not heard from them recently,” Sargeant said. “I would definitely be interested in them if they called again, but I haven’t heard from them.”
Sargeant scored a 1280 on his SAT, so he is more than qualified to attend any of the three schools. He has already sent his transcript to Stanford and should be hearing from the admissions department within the next few weeks.
Should Sargeant decided to attend an Ivy League school, he and his family would be responsible for the tuition. Schools like Princeton and Yale do not offer athletic / academic scholarships, but that will not play a part in his decision.
“Princeton and Yale don’t offer any type of scholarships, so my parents would be responsible for all the fees,” he said. “My parents and I have talked about this at great length and they’re prepared to pay for everything.”
Sargeant indicated that he would sign during the early signing period.
