Thomas: One of 2006s Best
The No. 51 ranked player in the class of 2006 Rob Thomas was one of the more athletic and entertaining players at the TOC. Averaging 26.3 points per game in the 17-under division for the New York Panthers, the 6-foot-6, 185-pound small forward out of Oakdale, Conn., will have numerous high majors after him.

“Right now I like Vanderbilt, Yale, Ohio State, Iowa, and Connecticut,” said Thomas, who attends St. Thomas More. “My favorite is Connecticut because of their academics, the way they play ball, and the environment.”
Thomas will thrive in an up tempo style of play such as Connecticut’s style. He is extremely fast in filling the lanes, has sure hands on the catch, and is not afraid of either the strong finish or acrobatic finish. In fact, finisher or scorer, is an accurate way to describe Thomas. He also has the athleticism and grit to be a very good defender.
His ball handling and passing skills, as well as his outside jumper, could use some work. From the free throw line, he shot 57 percent during the tournament.
“I am working hard on my jumper and strength,” he said. “I am also working on my left hand.”
Although he is a 2006 prospect, Thomas is already 18 years old. Blessed with a live body and tremendous body control, Thomas will improve his skill level during his time at St. Thomas More.
