Sargeant Schedules First Visit
Matt Sargeant is one of several players from the West Coast not getting the national attention he deserves. However, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound combo guard from Ocean View High School in Huntington, California has seen his recruitment pickup during the month of April.
Sargeant continues to hear from a wide variety of schools from many different conferences. His skills in the classroom and on the court have brought in coaches from the West Coast.

“Matt hosted several schools during the April contact period, at his high school,” A member of the Sargeant family said. “Coaches from Colorado State, Yale, Princeton, Stanford and UCS visited during that period. Oklahoma State is starting to get involved, but they didn't visit during the contact period.
“Most of the schools that visited have offered Matt official visits,” they added.
Sargeant averaged 20 points, four rebounds and four assists a game his junior year as Ocean View complied a 27-4 record.
Sargeant will be taking his first official visit next week to UC Santa Barbara and that is the only official visit that he is scheduled to take at this point.
There is no doubt that Sargeant had a successful junior campaign and it appears that he is finally being rewarded for all his hard work.
“Matt was named to the first team Division III all state team, first team all state junior class, first team all county and he was the only junior on the five man team,” they said. “He was also named to the LA Times first team all region, first team all CIF, Golden West league MVP and team MVP.”
When it is time for Sargeant to make a decision, he will have plenty of options. He has heard from over 50 schools and his recruitment is just beginning to mature.
Sargeant is wide-open in terms of his recruitment and is open to leaving the West Coast to attend college.
