Matt Sargeant, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound combo guard from Ocean View High School in Huntington, California has started the summer off with a bang. He made the trip to North Carolina for the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions and the Pangos All-American Camp, which was located in California.
“The trip to the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions was great,” A member of the Sargeant family said.” Matt had the opportunity to play with Demarcus Nelson. It was really a great experience for matt.

“In the second pool game our team was in real trouble,” they added. “Matt scored 18 points in one half and really did some nice things. He had a couple of quick steals and broke down his defender off the dribble. Matt has the ability to play either guard position, but he has the mentality of a point guard. He really gets the ball moving, can shoot and get his teammates involved in the game.”
Sargeant has an extremely busy summer coming up, but he and his family still find time to focus in on his recruitment.
“Matt will attend Stanford’s High Potential Camp at the end of June,” They said. “UC Irvine is another team that is heavily recruiting him. Matt will also visit Princeton and Yale before heading to the ABCD Camp and the Las Vegas Big time.
“Matt also participated in the Pangos All-American Camp, which took place in California,” They added.
Stanford has been very adamant about getting Sargeant up for the High Potential Camp, so they are a school that seems to be very interested at this time.
Sargeant has not decided when he will make a decision about his future, but he will take his time with this. Quite a few new schools are starting to get involved in his recruitment, so he will have plenty of options when it comes time to decide.
