Matt Sargeant, the 6-foot-4, 190-pound combo guard from Ocean View High School in Huntington, CA., has given a commitment to Princeton. Sargeant had been receiving interest from quite a few high major schools, but decided he wanted to attend an Ivy League school.

“I took an official visit to Princeton this past weekend and loved everything about the school,” Sargeant said. “I really got a certain feeling after playing with the guys and hanging out with them.

“It was really a tough decision,” he added. “Calling the other coaches wasn’t easy, especially the phone call to Yale. I had built a good relationship with the coaching staff at Yale, but I just loved everything about Princeton.”

Sargeant has a real passion for the game of basketball, but he is also extremely talented in the classroom. He indicated that he might major in English during his time at Princeton. He also said that law school might be a possibility down the road.
