Missouris Konate Delivers
LEWES, Del. -- Foreign transplants Ousmane Konate and Hatila De Souza each recorded double doubles as Laurinburg (NC) Institute defeated Georgetown Prep, 57-47, on Monday morning in the seventh place game of the Slam Dunk to the Beach.
Konate, a 6-8 senior power forward from the Senegal bound for Missouri, finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds. De Souza, an impressive looking 6-9 junior combo/power forward from Brazil, chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Laurinburg led 31-26 at the half, and steadily built on the lead early in the fourth quarter. Georgetown Prep made a late charge, slicing the Laurinburg lead to 46-42 on a basket by 6-8 junior forward Davis Nwankwo.
The Tigers responded with a quick 6-0 spurt to push the lead back to 52-42. A three point play by Konate and a basket from point guard Armand Massogo capped the run/
Guards Rice Moss (12 points on 4/17 shooting) and Pat Coyle (10 points on 4/20 shooting) paced the Hoya attack. The junior inside tandem of Nwankwo (seven points, four rebounds) and Roy Hibbert, Jr. (nine points, six rebounds) struggled against the older and bigger Laurinburg front line.
