DeVon Hardin of Newark Memorial High School embarked on a tournament tour last month as a little known California big man and returned as a national prospect with the offers to go along with it.

The 6-foot-10 inch power forward earned his reputation as a ferocious rebounder and shotblocker at the Boo Williams Tournament in Virginia. He then gave an encore performance at the Kingwood Classic in Houston two weeks later.
Prior to the Boo Williams, Hardin had scholarship offers from LMU, UNLV and Cal. He returned with his phone ringing off the hook, and when the dust settled, he had additional offers from LSU, Oregon, Oklahoma St., and Gonzaga.
Oklahoma St., LSU, UCLA, and Oregon visited Hardin's high school during the recent contact period and he has an official visit scheduled with Cal this week.
According to DeVon's father, Michael Hardin, the younger Hardin has a short list of schools which includes USC, UCLA, Cal, Arizona, Kansas, and Oregon. The fact that UCLA and Kansas have new head coaches will not have a bearing on DeVon's decision and he is expected to make his decision before the school year ends.
We will provide updates on DeVon's recruiting as he approaches a decision over the next month.
