"I've got a lot of family in Texas and that was a big influence on my decision," Hamilton said in a televised broadcast of his announcement. "When I went down there, I spent time with my family and thought it was a great thing."
Hamilton plans to officially visit Texas this fall. He chose Texas after considering California, Connecticut, Kansas, USC and Syracuse.
Hamilton, the No. 5 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, joins top ten prospect Avery Bradley and four-star prospect Shawn Williams in Texas' 2009 recruiting class.
I have not set an official visit yet, but I will take my one official visit to Texas. I just want to come in and be able to play my position. I can play the 1 through the 4. That is my game. I can post up smaller defenders and I can take bigger defenders off the dribble.
Jordan Hamilton scouting report:
Hamilton is a physically imposing wing player with a multidimensional game which is effective anywhere on the court. Beyond his ability to score at all three levels, Hamilton is a tremendous rebounder and a lethal passer in the open court. His unique size, skill package and feel for the game make him a legitimate four position player.
