Gerald Green Ends Recruitment

The elite players are quickly taking themselves off the recruiting board. Gerald Green, a 6-foot-8, 195-pound small forward from Houston’s Gulf Shore Academy (Texas), decided to end the recruiting process early by verbally committing to an elite Big 12 program on Monday.
Green, the No. 9 player in the class of 2005 according to Rivals.com, recently visited Oklahoma State and after seeing the Stillwater campus, he decided to give the Cowboys the good news and committed.

“I think they are good fit for me,” Green said. “I like the school a lot and the players treat each other like it’s a family environment.”
Players like Green don’t come around very often. He’s a great combination of size, athleticism, perimeter skills and basketball IQ. The Texan will be one of the top players right away for a team that was just in the Final Four last year.
“There are a lot of players at my position that are leaving and I should be able to come in and play early,” Green said. “I believe it is the best fit for me.”
Like most prospects, Green said Oklahoma State’s academic and athletic standards were key in his decision.
“They are a good school. Academically, they are strong,” he said. “They have a really good coaching staff and they should help me improve.”
Green picked the Cowboys over Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. He recently participated in the NBA Players Association camp and got rave reviews from several of the camp counselors and directors.
