DC Hoopfest: Q&A with five-star Precious Achiuwa

WASHINGTON, DC – Attempting to gain credible information regarding the recruitment of top-10 senior Precious Achiuwa is about as difficult as it would be to turn water into wine. However, we were able to sit down with the talented forward this weekend following his time at the ARS Rescue Rooter National Hoopfest as he discussed his move to Montverde Academy, the schools involved, and when official visits and a commitment might be expected.

Corey Evans (CE): You made the move to Montverde Academy for your senior season. How has that gone for you so far and what do you think of your new team?

Precious Achiuwa (PA): It has been great. Obviously, it is a new team and a new set of guys but I have been having fun and just us, playing better as a team, we have a lot of great players, we are getting better and better and that is the great thing about being at Montverde.”

CE: So, what is that you bring to the floor? What is your exact role?

PA: As a ballplayer, I just do whatever it takes to get the win and that is just my role on the team. Whatever it takes to win, I will do it.

CE: You haven’t been the easiest to gain information on. What is new with you and your recruitment?

PA: Everything is about the same. I am going to try and start taking visits soon around early next year and then I will move forward from there.

CE: Do you have an idea of where you want to visit?

PA: I haven’t really decided where I want to go just yet, I just need to speak with my family about that.

CE: What schools are really involved?

PA: It has been the same schools that everyone talks about with me, really. Kansas and UConn, you know. St. John’s and UCLA, along with a few others.

CE: Any idea of when you want to get things going and maybe commit?

PA: I haven’t decided. I don’t have a timeline just yet but I need to still speak with my family about where and when I will visit some of these places.

CE: Then of those schools, what is going to be the deciding factors for the program you choose?

PA: What is important to me is just about where I can have fun, I can play the game and help me get to the next level and become a better player.
