Calvin Felder may not get quite the publicity of his teammates on last year’s Game Elite 2019 team, but the forward is a very talented prospect in his own right. The 6-foot-6 South Carolina native possesses the ability to play on the perimeter and is also willing to mix it up in the paint with post players. He plays the “glue guy” role as good as any potential high-major prospect in the country.

College coaches in the area have certainly taken notice of his ability. Clemson, Georgia, Marquette, South Carolina and Virginia Tech are the schools he says he talks to most regularly. Clemson and South Carolina have both had him on campus for games this season.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Clemson: “I went on a visit there recently. I really like how they play. I love the fan base there, and I got to tour the campus afterwards. I love being up there. It’s a good time.”

Georgia: “I’ve been talking to one of the assistant coaches there a lot lately, Jonas Hayes. That’s probably the coach I talk to the most. Them picking up one of my good friends and teammates Ashton Hagans gives me more to think about going there.”

Marquette: “I like Marquette. I like the tradition they have with their program, and they’ve been down here to watch me practice. I like the fact they are sponsored by Jordan.”

South Carolina: “I really like their program a lot, especially with Coach (Frank) Martin. I like the style he coaches with and how he pushes his players to do more. I like their campus and going to games there because I love the fan base.”

Virginia Tech: “Virginia Tech, I get letters from them literally every day. There is pretty much nothing but Virginia Tech letters all over my room. I love seeing that.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Each of the schools Felder talked about has its own draw for Felder. Clemson and South Carolina are in-state schools with great fan bases. For Georgia, 2019 five-star point guard Ashton Hagans is recruiting him. For Marquette, it’s the Jordan-brand shoes. And Virginia Tech, they bombard him with letters.

For now, Felder remains open to all the schools recruiting him. He says he’ll most likely wait until after he’s done with the upcoming travel season before making any sort of college decision.
