Williams looking West, calls one team his 'dream school'

Class of 2018 four-star point guard Brandon Williams has been busy in recent months. His recruitment has taken off since a strong travel season with California Supreme, so he decided to get out and visit some of the schools recruiting him. He’s taken recent visits to Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas and Nevada. Along with those schools, Williams also has Arizona State, California, UCLA and USC among others recruiting him heavily right now.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: Williams recapped some of his visits and what stands out about the schools recruiting him hardest.

Arizona: “I just like their tradition. They’ve always been like my dream school since I was little. The things that Sean Miller tells me and how they need a point guard, it’s just something to look into.”

Arizona State: “We’re building our relationship. They offered me about four months ago. We’re just building a relationship with Bobby Hurley because I know what he’s done with point guards. He’s probably one of the greatest college point guards ever.”

Connecticut: “I feel like I can talk to Kevin Ollie about anything, not just basketball. I can relate to him because he’s from here and he’s a point guard.”

Kansas: “The visit went perfect. It’s Kansas. There is nothing really bad about their program in any way. Bill Self is a really good coach and so is his whole coaching staff. They put players in the NBA every year.”

UCLA: “I like their tradition. It seems like you can average seven points and three assists there and go to the NBA. Coach (Steve) Alford has been calling me and telling me how they always have NBA scouts coming through there. I just need to do my homework on them.”

USC: “I have that connection with my former teammate who is there now, Deanthony Melton. They are recruiting me and calling me every day, telling me not to rule them out. I have a good relationship with (assistant coach) Jason Hart too.”

WHAT’S NEXT?: Williams seems to be taking the recruiting process one day at a time. He admitted there are times when he feels ready to commit, but others where he starts to second guess himself. It really wouldn’t be too big of a surprise if he ends up being committed to a school sooner than later.

RIVALS’ REACTION: When a prospect starts calling a school recruiting them his “dream school”, it’s hard to see the prospect not picking that school. That’s how Williams talks when you ask him about Arizona. With the way Miller has been recruiting lately, it’s awfully hard to see Williams going anywhere but Arizona.
