Four-star small forward Kimani Lawrence made some news earlier this week when he decided to officially cut his list down to five schools. Arizona State, Florida, Pittsburgh, Texas and USC remain in the mix for the 48th ranked prospect in the newest edition of the 2017 Rivals150.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: Lawrence shared what stands out most about each of the schools he’s still considering.

Arizona State: “Just the opportunity to play there and the new coaching staff. They are just good people. I like what they have going on out there.”

Florida: “I talk with Coach [Mike] White. We definitely have one of the stronger relationships of any of the head coaches that have recruited me.”

Pittsburgh: “Their roster situation sets up nice for me if I go there. If I go there and do everything I’m supposed to do, I could get a lot of minutes right away in the ACC.”

Texas: “Coach Shaka [Smart], he’s also one of the head coaches that’s done a lot of recruiting. He knows how to win and I like his program and where it’s headed.”

USC: “They are big on skill development. I loved the visit when I went out there. I like the whole Los Angeles atmosphere.”

WHAT’S NEXT?: Lawrence will start taking official visits later in September. He’s not ready to give out the dates as he says they could still change. As for when a decision may come, he doesn’t have a timeline in mind. He will make a verbal commitment to a school whenever he feels comfortable.

RIVALS’ REACTION: It’s hard to get a gauge on his recruitment from talking to him as he legitimately seems interested in all of the schools on the list. Behind the scenes, most of the talk has been centered on Arizona State and USC.
