UCLA, Stanford among West Coast programs recruiting Jaylen Clark

LOS ANGELES – The Compton Magic travel program has not lacked talent in recent, and it looks as if Jaylen Clark is the next man up in the 2010 class. A 6-foot-4 swingman that is tough at the basket and can play multiple positions, chances are that Clark becomes a high-major recruit sooner rather than later.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

A number of schools have already gotten involved with the rising sophomore.

“I have offers from Cal State Northridge, Tulane and UC-Riverside,” he said. “I am also hearing from UCLA and Stanford; Stanford is showing a lot of interest.”

Clark broke down his feelings about the two Pac-12 programs involved.

UCLA: “I like the campus. It is a good school with a fun environment and I want to be on the big stage that they have.”

Stanford: “They sent me pictures of the campus. It looks like a nice campus. I like them a lot.

“If you get an offer to go there, it just means you’re doing really well in the classroom and on the court, which is all you can really ask for.”

WHAT'S NEXT

Clark will finish out his summer on the adidas circuit this July running with the Compton Magic 15-under squad.

Expect more offers to come in. While no Pac-12 program has offered just yet, Clark's talent makes it safe to say that should change over time.

RIVALS' REACTION

Clark has all of the abilities in the world to be a nationally ranked prospect in the 2020 class. UCLA has done a phenomenal job of creating a pipeline with the Compton Magic program in recent years, so the Bruins could become a favorite. A handful of other power conference programs like Stanford should soon enter the mix with an offer of their own, however.
