SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Jairus Hamilton has started to plan the next step in making his commitment.

A 6-foot-7 forward that can handle, finish and defend various spots, Hamilton has not been short for attention. After landing offers from North Carolina, Wake Forest and NC State as an underclassman, Hamilton spoke on how things have fared recently.

“I am still open. I see the schools that are recruiting me the hardest but nothing is kind of closed right now,” he said before noting on those standing out. “Definitely, Duke, NC State, Kansas, UNC, Missouri, Arizona, Wake Forest and I think Kentucky is coming in, as well.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

NC State: “They see me as a guy coming in and taking over and getting NC State back on track. That is definitely something that you want to hear. If I go there, I just have to make sure there are the right pieces around me.”

Duke: “They see me as a guy that can come in and do it all for them, be a triple-double machine. Be the guy that can play off the dribble, post up and get to the rack.”

UNC: “I definitely like them a lot. I got Coby (White) and Rechon (Black) already committed there so I know people that are there, plus, I have been there a lot and know the coaches. It definitely has a lot of good connections, which is what I like about them.”

Wake Forest: “They definitely see me as a guy coming in and changing the program. Chaundee (Brown) is going to have a big year this year and me coming in next year, we could cause a lot of damage in the ACC.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Hamilton will finish out his final month on the travel circuit with the Team Loaded VA 17-under bunch. In the meantime, expect for a cut list in the coming weeks and with a commitment shortly thereafter.

“I will probably narrow things down right before my senior year after July. I will probably get it down to a top seven and then figure it out from there,” he said. “I will definitely take my official visits in the fall and make my commitment shortly after that.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

The type of ballplayer that can score inside and out, and fits the mold of a small ball power forward that can create giant mismatches in the half-court, any program would love to add Hamilton.

Expect for the recruitment of Hamilton to come down to the four programs within the state of North Carolina as NC State may have the edge heading into the final two evaluation periods this month.
