Florida, Kentucky have eye on five-star soph Scottie Lewis

Ranked in the top five nationally in his promising graduating class of 2019, Scottie Lewis has continued to round out his skillset while remaining the same old competitive player that has made him such a unique prospect.

Graced with unbelievable athleticism and instincts, Lewis’ intangibles might be his best attribute. Teaming up with his best friend, Bryan Antoine, on the high school and travel circuit, the Ranney School duo has solidified their standing as five-star prospects, making it an easy case for early offers from Kansas, Florida, Villanova, Maryland and Xavier.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

While he is still some time away from focusing in on his college recruitment, Lewis has used his time to round out his skillset.

“Definitely being able to do everything,” the five-star sophomore said. “Hit a couple of jump shots, play within my team, listening to my coach and doing all of the little things that I do.”

Lewis’ recruitment has hit the highest of levels as Kentucky head coach John Calipari was in to see him play last Sunday.

“It was good. It was show time,” Lewis said. “Me and Bryan talked before the game. We knew who would be here watching us. and it was show time.”

Another school showing major interest in Lewis and Antoine is Florida; both have already visited a few times within the past several months.

“I like Florida a lot," Lewis said. "The weather down there is what I am looking for. It is a great school. I have a great relationship with coach (Mike) White, Coach (Darris) Nichols, and when we go down there, they treat us like family.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Don’t expect a college commitment to come any time soon. Lewis is more focused on the short term.

“I don’t know really," Lewis said of his current recruiting standing. "I am just focusing on my season right now. I am not really worried about recruiting.”

In the meantime, look for Lewis to continue to make noise this spring and summer on the travel circuit running again with his talented Team Rio bunch.

RIVALS' REACTION

There are not many traits Lewis lacks. He is one of the most competitive kids around, has ideal intangibles and an elite skillset that makes him more than just an athlete within the open floor. He is also going to win pretty much every news conference or interview that he partakes in.
