Norcross High School is always a popular spot for college coaches to stop when they make the trip to metro Atlanta, as it is easy for them to get to and there are always players in the program. This year, one of the players coaches have been checking in on is Kyle Sturdivant, a three-star point guard in the 2019 class.

Sturdivant says Georgia, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Texas A&M and USC are the schools he talks with the most right now. Michigan, Clemson, Florida State, Butler and Purdue are among the school that have been by the school to see him in open gym.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Georgia: “I think they are going to be really good. They got Rayshaun [Hammonds] coming in this year. They are getting good pieces. They just need a couple good recruiting years and they’ll be up and running.”

Georgia Tech: “I feel like they are on a great come-up. They just got a pretty good point guard. I just feel like they are on a really good trajectory. Nobody expected them to do as well as they did last season. I’ll keep a close eye on them.”

Texas A&M: “I’ve had a really good relationship with Amir Abdur-Rahim because I first talked to him when I was in the eighth grade. We’ve known each other for a long time. He always talks about being like family.”

USC: “They are supposed to be top 10 this year. They talk to me about how they like to play fast. They think their style fits my game because I can do a lot of things at the point guard position.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Both in-state schools have Sturdivant’s attention early on in the process. Georgia just signed one of his teammates from last year in Rayshaun Hammonds and have turned up the heat on Sturdivant already. Georgia Tech impressed him by surpassing expectation in a big way in Josh Pastner’s first season in Atlanta. USC’s rise under Andy Enfield and his bond with Amir Abdur-Rahim at Texas A&M have those programs in the mix as well, but Sturdivant likely won’t be deciding any time soon, which means his recruitment could change quite a bit.
