Nearly half of the 2017 Rivals150 have made their college choices. Today we begin a series of looks at the highest ranked players left on the board, their recruitment and where our team of National Analyst Eric Bossi, Krysten Peek, Dan McDonald and Russ Wood could see them playing in college.
RELATED: Five-star predictions, part 1
The skinny: The high-scoring and sharp-shooting point guard has official visits set with Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Texas Tech while Oklahoma State and Washington remain involved. The Jayhawks, Wildcats and Sooners appear to have opened up some distance from the pack.
The skinny: A big time combo forward who can rebound and score, Washington will play his senior season for his father at Findlay Prep. Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina and Texas seem to be generating the most behind-the-scenes buzz.
The skinny: A small forward with size who excels at the rim and from mid-range, Wilkes has already visited Illinois and has trips planned for Connecticut, Indiana, UCLA and Xavier.
The skinny: A shot-blocking big man who has improved his offense over the last year, Richards has seemed to be locking in on Arizona, Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky and Syracuse.
The skinny: A high-scoring swingman who was once considered a lock to Villanova, there’s been recent talk that Walker could be looking to spread his wings. His final five includes Arizona, Kentucky, Miami, Syracuse and the defending national champions.
The skinny: Vanderbilt missed much of the summer due to injury and his recruitment has been quiet of late. TCU did hire an assistant coach with a family connection and that’s generated a ton of buzz for the Horned Frogs.
The skinny: Because he is originally from Michigan, many have speculated that Bowen will eventually make his way back home for college. However, he’s not yet made a serious cut to his list or set any official visits as programs like Michigan State, Michigan, UCLA, Texas, Creighton and Kentucky have one level of involvement or another.
The skinny: For a time, it looked like the tough Philly raised point guard would end up at either Duke or Kentucky. More recently, there’s been a huge buzz building that suggests he’ll head up to Syracuse.
The skinny: Formerly a high-major wide receiver prospect, Walker has decided to focus on hoops. A strong jump-shooter with size, he’s likely to wait until the spring to make his choice.
