Five-star Balsa Koprivica took a surprise trip to Baylor last week, his first official visit of his recruitment.

“The basketball weight room had everything customized for big guys and machines that I haven’t seen on any other campuses,” he said. “They have been comparing me to Isaiah Austin and his game. They see me as an inside-out threat that is going to go and get boards and block shots.”

Baylor’s interest in Koprivica is nothing new.

“I got to build a good relationship with the whole coaching staff since they have been recruiting me, really since I was in the eighth grade,” he said. “Coach (Scott) Drew has had a number of bigs drafted in the NBA over the last several years.”

While there have been talks of reclassifying into the 2018 class, Koprivica remains set on sticking within his current 2019 graduating class.

The 7-foot, 240-pound prospect remains a heavily coveted prospect nationally. Florida State, Wake Forest, UCF and USC have remained in pursuit, along with a slew of others, though Drew and his staff’s ability to get him onto campus early in the process may bode well for the Bears.

“I am looking to decide somewhere close to the beginning of my senior year before the season starts,” he said.
