SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- One of the most lethal scorers in the class of 2019, top 40 Rocket Watts was letting them fly on Friday at the Hoophall Classic.

Committed to Michigan State, Watts raised some eyebrows by not signing during the early signing period. What the Detroit native who is playing his senior year at Spire in Ohio had to say in a question and answer session should alleviate any concerns that Spartans fans may have.

Eric Bossi (EB):How has the move to Spire been for you individually?

Rocket Watts (RW): It’s Been good and It’s been kind of like learning the college life. I’m away from home and getting my body right, eating right, going to school and getting ready for college and I’m blessed to be at Spire.

EB: You committed to Michigan State but didn’t sign. Why not? Is there anything for Michigan State to be worried about?

RW: Really I’m just waiting until April. I’m solid with Michigan State. I’m not looking at any other school, I’m just waiting until April.

EB: Just to be totally clear, you are all in with Michigan State?

RW: Yeah, yes, for sure. I’m all in with Michigan State and I will be signing in April.

EB: Malik Hall is committed to play with you, what do you think about playing with him?

RW: I haven’t really seen him play like that just yet. But, me and him have been texting a lot and really building that relationship and we have a couple of tournaments that we’ll both be playing in so I’ll get to see him this season. I can’t wait to get there and play with him.

EB: There’s still some big targets left out there for Michigan State. Isaiah Stewart would be the biggest, do you have any feel on him?

RW: Oh yeah, me and Isaiah talk like every other week. He’s been a little injured right now but he’s getting better and working. I’m staying real close to him and trying to get him to Michigan State as well.

EB: Finally, what will you bring to the table at Michigan State?

RW: I think scoring and toughness. I can get my teammates involved and I can definitely help with scoring. Right now State is having some problems with scoring the ball and I’m just ready to get there and get straight to it.
