Elias King discusses half-dozen major programs chasing him

Four-star wing Elias King’s phone has been ringing off the hook for the past week following the June 15 date when college coaches to begin calling and texting.

USC, Georgia and Virginia Tech have all been aggressive with the Georgia native so far, while Louisville has already been working King hard for a few months now. He took visits to both Louisville and Georgia this week, and has been on campus at Florida State in the past.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

King talked about visits to Louisville and Georgia along with his interest in the other programs recruiting him.

Louisville: “It was good. It went well. They showed me around the campus and they showed what their school is about, how they play, how I would fit in, and how I could do well in their system.”

Georgia: “Georgia was great. They loved me and my family, and they appreciated us coming up. They basically said they want me pretty bad. They probably are on me the hardest of any of the schools.”

Virginia Tech: “I talk to coach (Christian) Webster there all the time. They have a tough coach and they are a hard-nosed defensive team. They are a close-knit program.”

USC: “They are out on the West Coast, but I’m going to try to make it out to Los Angeles to see them with my dad. I’m open to giving them a look.”

Florida: “I have a teammate at Huntington Prep that signed with Florida, Chase Johnson. I know they always have great guard play. If you do what you have to do, they’ll send you to the League.”

Florida State: “They have a tough program too. They told me about how they play. They said if you come there and do what you’re supposed to do, you should be out of there within a year or two.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

King will be playing in the Nike Elite 100 camp this weekend and will return to playing with AOT next month during the open recruiting periods. On the recruiting side, he’s planning to visit Florida and Florida State with some teammates in the near future. He also mentioned that he’ll likely be returning to Louisville soon as well.

RIVALS’ REACTION

When asked which schools are standing out, King listed USC, Louisville, Georgia and Virginia Tech. Right now though, it’s probably safe to say Louisville holds the edge in his recruitment. King was born in Georgia and his family still lives in Georgia, but he and his family lived in Louisville for a few years during his childhood. Rick Pitino and his staff will be tough to beat in this one as they were one of the first schools to prioritize the 2019 prospect.
