Attention should start increasing for 2019 forward Jaiden Delaire

LOS ANGELES – A few prospects reveal themselves every spring and show the rest of the nation just how good they really are. Jaiden Delaire falls within this group as the 6-foot-8 small forward displays unbelievable upside, versatility and talent, all of which has a few of the local programs beginning to show interest.

Playing with the Connecticut Basketball Club 16-under team this spring on the UA circuit, Delaire’s ability to play a point-forward role for his team has been impressive. Delaire spoke on his rather limited recruitment.

“Right now, I have four offers from Rider, UMass, Iona and Tulane,” he said. “I am also hearing from UConn, Stanford and Yale.”

IN HIS WORDS

UMass: “It is close to home and close to my family. I know a few guys that have been to UMass; one of my cousins actually attended UMass.”

UConn: “Ever since I was young, I am from Connecticut, that was who I grew up watching with Jim Calhoun and those guys. All my friends and everyone that comes up out of my school, that is their dream, to play basketball at UConn growing up. Just it being so close to home, it being a high-major school, I am very thankful.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

Delaire will finish out his junior summer on the UA circuit with the Connecticut Basketball Club 16-under team. In the meantime, look for a bevy of scholarship offers to be received and a few visits to be taken during the month of June.

RIVALS’ REACTION

Delaire, a member of the 2019 class, is due to see his recruitment spike before the summer finishes. Graced with excellent size, athleticism and a feel for the game, the chances look good that he will be within the next rankings update due to his unbelievable upside.

When it comes to his recruitment, things are their infancy stages but seeing the affection that he has for UConn, if the Huskies were to pursue with an offer, Kevin Ollie’s program may be the school to beat.
