Class of 2018 PF Emmitt Williams starting to take visits

BRADENTON, Fla. - Class of 2018 power forward Emmitt Williams had a great spring and summer playing up a division with E1T1 United in the Nike EYBL. He averaged 10.4 points per game and has mentioned how going up against big guys such as 2017 five-star Wendell Carter helped make him a better player.

Now a junior at IMG Academy, Williams is starting to focus on the recruiting process and taking some unofficial visits. He’s picked up recent offers from Memphis, TCU, Ohio State and Iowa State, with Louisville and Kentucky showing interest.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Williams recently took a visit to Miami earlier in October and plans to get out to LSU for an unofficial visit sometime in November.

Recapping Miami visit: “I went to the football game that weekend and that was my first football game ever. It was the Florida State game and it was crazy. It just gave me a good sense of the fan atmosphere. I like the Miami program a lot. It’s close to home and I like that they’re in the ACC. Coach (Jim) Larranaga is a great guy and I’m really getting to know that coaching staff at Miami. I watched one of their practices and felt like I could fit in well there.”

Upcoming LSU visit: “A former teammate of mine, Antonio Blakeney, plays up there at LSU and he’s been talking to me a lot about the program. I just want to check it out and hopefully catch a practice so I can see how everything is on the team. I know the coaching staff pretty well and they’re building something good at LSU.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Williams wants to visit all the in-state schools in Florida during his junior season, including Florida, Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast. Once his high school season is over he plans on assessing his offer list and who’s been keeping in contact, and will set some more visits for the spring.

RIVALS.COM'S REACTION

Unlike his teammate, Silvio De Sousa, who plans on committing before his senior season, Williams will be taking his time with the recruiting process. He wants to take a look at all the schools recruiting him and plans on cutting a list at the start of his senior year.
