Zam Frederick names top four

South Carolina’s top guard prospect, Zam Frederick from St. Mathew’s High School, currently has five offers from high major colleges with more likely on the way.
“Georgia Tech, South Carolina, Clemson, Stanford and Georgia came to my high school during the contact period and offered a scholarship,” Frederick said. “Connecticut and Auburn are planning to come by and my coach told me that they will likely offer when we meet with them.”

Frederick, 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, indicated that he was considering all the schools who have offered him a scholarship but his four favorites come from across the country.
“Kentucky, Connecticut, Stanford and Georgia Tech are my current overall favorites. A few haven’t offered yet but they have shown interest,” Frederick said. “I’m looking for the college where I can play early and also fit into their system.”
While Frederick stated that athletics were his top priority when selecting a school, he was also looking at the academics and social life as well.
“Academics are huge to both of my parents and me so that will play a key factor in which school I attend,” Frederick said. “I’m probably going to major in architectural engineering and if a school is strong in that field then they could have an advantage.”
“I also want to be comfortable with the campus and other students. I have to spend four years of my life there and it has to be a perfect fit for me.”
This summer Frederick will team-up with another highly recruited prospect, Ra’Sean Dickey, when touring the summer’s AAU circuit with the South Carolina Ravens.
“Ra’Sean and I are pretty close. Whenever we get the chance we hang out together,” Frederick said. “Most of the schools that are recruiting him are recruiting me so we talk about playing together. But at the same time we have to do what is best for us whether that is attending the same school or going in different directions.”
Last summer Frederick, who is rated the 28th best player in the Southeast by RivalsHoops.com, averaged over 32 points, nine rebounds and eight assists per game. He carries a 4.39 GPA, taking college level courses, and will take the SAT for the first time in May.
