Yates to Stay In-State

2005 prospect Desmond Yates has been flying under the radar, since he got lost in the shuffle this summer playing for the power packed Memphis YOMCA 17 and under team. The high major programs near Somerville, Tennessee, however, are very aware of the 6-foot-6, 190-pound small forward from Fayette-Ware High School.
According to Larry Ransom, the head coach at Fayette-Ware, Yates may already be a lock for his in-state school.

“Right now Tennessee has offered,” said Coach Ransom. “Desmond really likes Tennessee, and it is looking like he going to sign with them during the early period next year. He wants to go to Tennessee.”
Whereas Yates has not officially committed to Tennessee there are a couple other schools in the mix.
“Everyone likes Desmond,” said Coach Ransom. “He can play the one, two, three, or four. Ole Miss has offered, and Memphis is coming on strong. He will probably play the two or three in college. He can handle the ball and shoot it. He also jumps real well.”
Coach Ransom feels that some schools have softened up on Yates because they feel he is destined for Tennessee.
