Yates Picks Up Another SEC Offer

2005 combo forward Desmond Yates has picked up another SEC offer to go along with his offer from Tennessee. The 6-foot-6, 190-pounds Yates, who plays for Memphis YOMCA and is from Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville, Tennessee, is also receiving interest from four other high majors.
“I have offers now from Tennessee and Ole Miss,” said Yates at the Kingwood Classic. “They are my top two schools. I did favor Tennessee, but now they are pretty much equal.”

Yates’ love of the Volunteers has been well documented, but now Tennessee has a tough contender for Yates in the Rebels.
“Ole Miss is actually closer to my home than Tennessee is, so I like that,” said Yates. “I have been down there on an unofficial visit last year and liked the chemistry.”
Yates plans to take official visits to both schools in the fall.
He is also receiving interest from Wisconsin, Alabama, Louisville, and Mississippi State.
Yates, who has played close to the basket this spring, appears to be more of a power forward. He is a good athlete and has a nice touch and may be able to develop into a small forward. He said that both Tennessee and Ole Miss are recruiting him as a small forward.
