Xavier lands potential star in Paul Scruggs

Chris Mack and Xavier added to their already outstanding recruiting class on Friday when they added 2017’s No. 31 player Paul Scruggs on Friday afternoon.

A 6-foot-4 combo guard from Indianapolis who is playing his senior season at Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep, Scruggs announced his commitment via his Twitter account.

In Scruggs, Xavier has landed a monster recruit.

With his tremendous size and strength, Scruggs is a physically tough and punishing guard who moves defenders around with his shoulders. He’s effective off the dribble, he scores at the rim and he’s got a nicely developed pull-up jumper.

He will have to improve his deep jump shooting a bit, but Scruggs also has the potential to be a very high level defender.

If things pan out for Scruggs at Xavier and he continues to develop the Musketeers have just added a future All Big East player and perhaps a future conference player of the year type.

Scruggs joins a class that includes versatile four-star wing Najii Marshall, Rivals150 sharp shooters Jared Ridder and Elias Harden and developmental three-star big man Kentrevious Jones. Previously ranked No. 12 in the team recruiting rankings, Xavier will now move into the top 10.
