Woods Names Five and a Leader

One time Baylor commitment Rashad Woods, the No. 22 2005 prospect in the country, has now expanded his school list to five schools and named a leader going into the spring AAU season. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound wing player from Heritage Christian High School in Cleveland, Texas who also plays for the talented Houston Hoops program spoke to RivalsHoops.com about his top five schools.
"Right now my top five schools are Arizona, UConn, Illinois, Georgia Tech, and Baylor,” said Woods, who finished the season averaging 26 points and 7 rebounds per game. “All of them except UConn has offered me a scholarship. Right now Arizona is my leader.”

Here are Woods’ comments on his five top schools, beginning with his leader Arizona.
On Arizona: "I like their style of play. They get out and run every chance they get. I like that they let their one through three bring the ball up the floor. If the point doesn't get the ball he just fills the lane. I like their coaches. Coach Olsen is supposed to come April 7th and talk to my Mom. I also have a real good relationship with Assistant Coach Josh Pastner.
On Connecticut: "They just got that rep. They’re always good. I also like that they’re always on ESPN."
On Illinois: "I like how they let all their players play. Assistant Coach Price has been down here twice to see me play. We have a good relationship. He's a good guy."
On Georgia Tech: "I don't know a lot about Georgia Tech. I've seen them on television and just like the way they play. They get up and down the floor like I like to play.”
On Baylor: "They’re a rebuilding program. I think Coach Scott Drew will be Big 12 Coach of the Year soon. Also Coach Tang, one of their assistant coaches, used to coach at the school I'm at now."
Woods also noted that he might be playing at a different school next year.
"I may go to Oak Hill Academy next year,” he said. “Their coach Steve Smith is supposed to be at the Kingwood Classic to watch me play."
Woods then had this assessment of his strengths and weaknesses.
"I think my greatest strengths are my outside shooting and shooting off the dribble. My Coach said my defense has gotten a lot better. On the Houston Hoops I always guard the opponents best player. I'm also versatile. I can play wherever you put me. I even played a little point at the start of the year."
"The thing I need to improve the most on is my ball handling. I'm going to continue to work on all of my game."
Woods plans to take the SAT on March 27th.
