Wooden Has Excellent Trip

By his own account, Keith Wooden had an excellent trip to Arizona State this past weekend. But he's thinking about taking another trip this fall.
Wooden told Rivalshoops.com that he spoke with the Indiana staff on Monday, and discussed visiting the Big 10 program possibly during the weekend of Oct. 11 for the Hoosiers' Midnight Madness festivities.

"Indiana called today and they are trying to schedule a visit with me," Wooden said. "They said probably October 12 for their midnight madness game, but that wasn't definite, and they are going to get back to me on that."
While Indiana is making its pitch to woo Wooden to its campus, Arizona State is still the team out in front in this recruiting battle. Kansas rounds out Wooden's top three, with DePaul, Xavier and UConn also showing some interest.
"It's nice out there, I really liked it," Wooden said of his trip to ASU. "I like Coach Evans and a lot of the players, so it was cool."
Wooden is hoping to sculpt his 6-8, 220 body at the college level, since he has the size and frame to accommodate more weight. And in that regard, Arizona State is more than just a pretty picture on a postcard.
"The campus is real nice, and they just got their weight room redone," Wooden said. "It was in ESPN the Magazine that their weight room is rated as the number one weight room in America."
"So when I went down there, I was kind of surprised to see that," Wooden continued. "They have a lot of state of the art equipment there."
Wooden said he regularly stays in touch with Jayhawk Asst. Coach Steve Robinson. In fact, when we caught up with him on Monday night, he had just returned from a trip to the KU campus.
That's not all that uncommon since Wooden lives in Lawrence and attends Free State H.S. In fact, he's a regular at KU for a lot of the pickup games with the Jayhawk players.
Wooden missed a qualifying score on his first crack at the ACT exam last year, and will take the test again this fall. While there are question marks by some college coaches as to whether he will qualify or not, Wooden is tackling the recruiting process as if he will make a fall decision.
