Wolfpack on the board with Werner

Coach Herb Sendek 's North Carolina State Wolfpack secured their first commitment from the Class of 2006 last night when 6-foot-7 forward Dan Werner from Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ made his decision. Rivals.com spoke to Mrs. Werner this morning and got the scoop.
"Dan committed to NC State yesterday," Mrs. Werner said. "He just felt like this was what he wanted to do and he'd rather have it over with. The facilities, the coaches, it was everything he wanted."

Werner visited NC State in July of 2004, which is about the time that the Wolfpack got involved with him. He took a tour of the West Virginia campus at the end of April, and it came down to a choice between NC State and the Mountaineers.
"It was between those two schools," Mrs. Werner stated. "Style of play was the biggest factor. Of all the schools he felt like they fit his style the best. And the warmer weather was a factor, too."
Rutgers, Notre Dame, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Richmond, and St. Joseph's had offered scholarships.
Werner averaged 16.2 points and 8 rebounds per game last season for CBA. He's a rugged combo-forward with excellent range on his jumpshot. Plays an aggressive style of basketball, but doesn't make many mistakes. Very underrated passer. He is qualified academically.
He'll continue to play with the Jersey Shore Warriors on the AAU circuit, and is set to attend ABCD Camp in July.
