Wiltz makes early choice

Most bubble high-major prospects tend to hold off on making a commitment to see what options might develop for them. However, Keith Wiltz, a 2007 point guard prospect out of JW North High School in Riverside, Calif., found the right mid-major program close to home and has made an early commitment.
"I've committed to Long Beach State," said Wiltz, 5-foot-9, 155-pounds. "I went to several practices and spent time on the campus and just felt really comfortable. It's also a great place for my family to watch me play ball."

Wiltz was also receiving significant recruiting attention from Oregon State and San Diego State, but he felt it was in his best interest to go ahead and commit to Long Beach State.
"I thought about waiting, but I didn't want to risk Long Beach going another direction and then nothing working out for me with a high major school," he said. "I think it is better for me to go somewhere I know I will like than to risk getting stuck going to a school that I don't really want to go to."
A deadly shooter from the outside, Wiltz runs with the Compton Magic on the AAU circuit.
