Williams to Big East

Four-star wing Erik Williams was down to four schools, but after his Midnight Madness visit to Marquette, he is off the board.
"I really liked what I saw on the visit," said Williams, 6-foot-6, 190-pounds from Cypress (Texas) Cypress Springs High School. "It's a great fit for me. The coaching staff- Coach Crean and Coach Buzz and the other coaches- are great people."

Williams, the No. 93 ranked prospect in the class of 2009, is an athletic small forward at this point. Marquette, however, sold him the vision of developing into a guard in their program.
"They said I'm not just a wing, but I can develop into a guard and a wing also," he said. "They said I just need to work on my handles and defense, and I can play guard for them."
Marquette wasn't the only program hot on Williams' trail. He also had offers and significant interest from Alabama, Baylor and Texas A&M.
