Williams Talks About Decision
Jon Williams, a husky 6-8, 235 pound power forward from St. Cloud Apollo H.S. in St. Cloud, Minn., loved his first official visit to St. John's last weekend so much he committed to Mike Jarvis' program. "It's a great school," Williams said. "I like the coaches a lot. My visit there was great."
Williams said his three finalists were St. John's, Miami and Minnesota. Williams is taking the ACT this weekend (Oct. 26) for a second time, and hopes to boost his score into the qualifying range.

St. John's isn't as worried about Williams qualifying as a senior in high school this year, since their plan for Jon is to attend prep school on the East Coast next year (2003-2004) before enrolling for classes in the fall of 2004.
Williams impressed Rivalshoops.com this past spring with the Howard Pulley program at the Rumble in the Bronx Tournament in New York. He played with the Pulley B squad at that event, and showed a solid back to the basket game in the low post.
