Williams may wait it out

A number of division one programs are involved with Larry Williams, a 6-foot-1, 155-pound combo guard from Altamont High School in Birmingham, Ala. Realizing he might be a second option at this point for many of these schools, Williams is looking at playing out the high school season and see who he can impress and what might develop before making a decision.
"I'm hearing from Murray State, Winthrop, Florida, Rice, Southern Miss and East Tennessee State," said Williams. "I'll probably make a late decision because coaches are more focused on their top targets right now. As guys make decisions, things should open up for me."

On Tuesday Murray State will conduct an in-home visit, but Williams has his eyes on two other schools in particular.
"I'm looking hard at Rice and Florida," he said. "I like Florida's style of play. They don't slow the ball down but push the ball all the time. Rice's basketball program is getting better and better, and their academics are very strong."
A 3.1 student with a 23 ACT, Williams has been a leader for winning teams throughout his high school career. While averaging 19 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game last season, Williams led Altamont to the Elite Eight of the state tournament. As a sophomore, Williams and Altamont made it to the Final Four.
