LEWES, DELAWARE -- Outstanding junior talent Will Sheridan scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Sanford High School of Delaware past Salem High School of Virginia Beach, Virginia, 53-52, at the Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament.
Sheridan's team went into the fourth quarter trailing by four points. This was because Salem got a nice effort out of Donnie Stith, who had 16 points. Paul Johnson also added 15 points for the losers.
Maryland bound point guard teammate John Gilchrist had 14 points. But Gilchrist had a rough day in the turnover department. He had nine for the game while adding five assists. So far it's been an up and down tournament for Gilchrist, who previously looked sharp at the City of Palms tournament last week in Fort Myers, Florida.
Helping the winners out this morning was Earl Miller, who had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
