Will Nebraska Make Offer

Deven Mitchell, a 6-4, 185 pound small/combination forward from Kickapoo H.S. in Springfield, Mo., is an active presence on the glass for the Springfield Heat program.
A proficient rebounder and slasher, Mitchell plays above the rim on both sides of the ball. While he does not have the handle or consistent outside shot to make a living on the perimeter, he moves and jumps well enough to suggest that he possibly could make the transition to the wing down the road.

While Nebraska is Mitchell's top school and the Huskers have expressed some preliminary interest, Deven told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered scholarships thus far by Wichita State and SW Missouri State. He has unofficially visited both Missouri Valley Conference programs.
In addition to the three aforementioned schools, Mitchell said he has been contacted by Kansas State, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Western Michigan and Southern Illinois. A strong summer could nudge some of the higher level schools to bite, but there's little doubt Mitchell will remain a mid-major priority for many programs.
Last season at Kickapoo, Mitchell averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals and five blocks per contest. He said he carries a 3.7 GPA in the classroom, and will take the ACT in the fall for the first time.
Mitchell will wrap up a busy July evaluation period at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas and Tom Tietze Tournament in Kansas.
