Bowers told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that Maryland and Texas are his early leaders. He said he is also considering Florida State, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Providence and Villanova.
Bowers has already unofficially visited Maryland, and was supposed to visit Virginia back on Sept. 11. However, the tragic events of that day forced Bowers to cancel those plans to visit Charlottesville.
Bowers said he may take some unofficial visits in the spring after the completion of the basketball season.
As a sophomore at Spalding H.S., Bowers averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks per game.
An excellent student, Bowers has compiled a 3.4 GPA and scored a 1310 on the SAT exam.
Bowers plays with a pair of teams on the spring/summer circuit -- the Baltimore Stars and Baltimore Select.
Based on his play and potential at the Slam Dunk, Bowers could be one of the better five men available in the Class of 2003.
