Wilkes Trims List Of Schools To Four

After taking a long and hard look at the number of programs involved in his recruitment, Jordan Wilkes has trimmed his list of schools and only four remain. The 6-foot-10, 205-pound center from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, Calif., has already visited three out of the four schools, but it is not yet known if the No. 1 center in the class of 2005 will take any additional visits in the fall.
“I am pretty much down to four schools,” Wilkes said. “UCLA, Stanford, California and Washington are the finalists. I have visited Washington (officially), California (unofficially) and Stanford (unofficially), so I feel good about those three schools. I have thought about taking a visit or two in the fall, but I don’t know if that will be necessary. I might be ready to decide before then.”

While Wilkes was quick to admit that no favorites have emerged from his list of schools, it appears that California is the team to beat. After transferring from the University of Kansas at the end of the semester, Omar Wilkes recently gave a commitment to Ben Braun and the Golden Bears.
“My brother and I have talked about playing together at California, but he and I both know that this is a decision that I must make,” Wilkes said. “My entire family thinks it would be great if we played together in college, but I have not made a decision about that yet. My parents and my bother want the best for me, so if I decided to attend another school, they will support my decision.
“I am very interested in UCLA, Stanford, Washington and California,” he added. “The fact that my brother is at California isn’t a disadvantage for the other three schools. I just want to select the school that is best for me.”
