Wilkes holding three offers

Coaches are making their way out to Pioneer Christian Academy in Whites Creek, Tenn., to get a quick peek of Darnell Wilkes. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward from the class of 2008 may be laying under the radar in recruiting discussions but he has a solid list of offers and interest.
According to his high school coach Carl Reed, Cincinnati, Tennessee and UTEP have offered a scholarship while Auburn, Virginia and Alabama are also showing interest. All of the programs have or will make it out to the Nashville area school to see Wilkes in action.

What have the high-majors seen in him? Reed said they are getting a look at an athletic forward with tremendous upside and raw skill.
"He'll have a big time dunk here and there and I think people lose sight of just how good his midrange game is and how good his ball-handling is," Wilkes said. "He is the total package."
Reed said Wilkes is listening to what recruiters have to say but there is a Big East program that has put in the work early in the process.
"Cincinnati has done a really good job recruiting him," Reed said. "I think it will be tough to beat them right now."
