Wiggins makes it official

Doug Wiggins, the top high school basketball player in the state of Connecticut , is staying home to play for Jim Calhoun and the Huskies, putting an end to an interesting week of Big East recruiting. The 6-foot point guard made it official at a Thursday morning press conference at his East Hartford (Conn.) High School.
Less than a week after de-committing from St. John's, Wiggins announced that he will play his college basketball in the state he grew up in. He officially announced that he was a UConn Husky.

"It was a lot of thinking, but I came to the decision to attend UConn," Wiggins said at his morning press conference. "I had to do what was best for me. I have the opportunity to attend my dream school."
East Hartford head coach Anthony Menard said Wiggins looked into Connecticut after the Huskies parted ways with Detroit guard Ramar Smith last month.
"He realized that they may be opening things up and he wanted to look into them," Menard told Rivals.com earlier in the week. "He's a Connecticut kid. He grew up watching them."
Wiggins is another fine addition to the stellar Uconn 2006 recruiting class. He joins Stanley Robinson, Curtis Kelly, Ben Eaves, Jerome Dyson and Jonathan Mandeldove.
