Why Steve Novak Committed To Marquette

Steve Novak, a 6-9, 205 pound forward from Brown Deer High School in Brown Deer, WI, committed to Marquette today. "I really think Marquette has a great future," Novak said. "It was a tough decision."
Novak said he also considered Illinois and Florida. "I really liked Florida a lot," Novak said. "But I think what the coaches have done at Marquette has been so great the last couple of years."

Novak feels he can fit in and score some points for Marquette. Novak, who averaged 20 points a game last season, has a nicely developed offensive game. "I am going to work hard on my ballhandling and perimeter skills this summer," Novak said. "I am also going to work on my defense."
Novak will work on those skills at the AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida. Novak, who is likely to major in business when he gets to college, also had some interest by UNC but the Tar Heels did not offer and wanted more time to evaluate him.
"I am really happy on where I am going," Novak said after his 1 PM CT press conference. "I like the coaches and players a lot. It's going to be fun. I won't be locked into a position. I think I can play small forward though."
