Why Byerson Picked West Virginia

Brad Byerson, a 6-8, 235 pound power forward from Colonial Heights, VA, told RivalsHoops.com that he chose West Virginia because it was the best place for him both academically and athletically. "They have very good support help for the student-athlete," Byerson said. "I met with the academic advisor and I was impressed in how they help you. I wanted that and West Virginia has a great academic school."
Byerson, who impressed us at several tournaments last spring and summer, previously told us during the July evaluation period that he had interest in North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Connecticut, George Washington, and Dayton. "West Virginia was really the only school I considered the last couple of weeks," Byerson said. "I really like the coaches and players and they are an up and coming program."
Byerson, who averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds, 3.2 assists and two steals as a junior for Thomas Dale High School, plans on majoring in architectural engineering. Byerson has shown some range on his jumper and also works hard on both ends of the court. He will make a very good college basketball player because he is constantly trying to improve his game and skills. "I just want to get bigger and stronger," Byerson said. "That's what I will be working on this season to make sure I am ready for the college level."
