Whats Next For Demarshay

The road to college has taken many twists and turns for Demarshay Johnson, but this week, he will enroll at a Division I college and keep his fingers crossed.
That's because Johnson, a finesse 6-9, 203 pound power forward from Oakland, Calif., will be enrolling at Nevada-Reno without the blessing of the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Rivalshoops.com caught up with Johnson on Saturday, just a day before he was slated to leave for Reno, where he will enroll in classes this week.
Johnson explained that he is still waiting for final word on his eligibility from the NCAA Clearinghouse after spending a year at Christian Faith Center in Creedmor, N.C.
Johnson transferred to CFC after a productive career at Oakland Tech H.S. that left him a tad short of qualifying. At CFC in 2001-2002, he was able to boost his SAT score to acceptable eligibility levels, but then his core GPA came under scrutiny.
This spring, Johnson appeared to be a safe bet for Oregon State. But for whatever reason, things didn't work out with the PAC 10 school. On top of that, his prep school (CFC) decided to de-emphasize its basketball program, and that's created some logistical problems in terms of collecting all of his data for the Clearinghouse.
But through it all, Johnson's remained positive. He's looking forward to this year in the Western Athletic Conference, and hopes it's as a contributor rather than a spectator.
