What school is fit for a prince

A small village in Cameroon will be celebrating on Friday when one of it’s prized sons makes a college decision. The party will have a royal flair to it, too. You see, Luc Mbahamoute, a 6-foot-7, 185-pound forward who is currently playing at Montverde (Fla.) Academy, is a prince back home. The athletic prospect is down to three programs and one lucky one will be his future home.
Mbahamoute isn’t a prince that come to mind to so many. He wears no crown and doesn’t have a passel of followers. True, his father is termed king and handles the village’s governmental decisions, but the family’s lifestyle isn’t too fairy tale. Nevertheless, Friday is a big day for the family and the people back home.

It’s a big day for Montverde Academy, too, says head coach Kevin Sutton. Mbahamoute will be the second player in the program’s two-year history to go onto a school in one of the basketball power conferences.
“It’s down to, and in no particular order, Virginia Tech, South Carolina and UCLA. Nothing has changed from that and all three schools are great choices for him,” Sutton said.
All three schools have hosted Mbahamoute for official visits. Virginia Tech was first on Sept. 24. UCLA came next on Oct. 2 and South Carolina welcomed the forward on Oct. 8. Each school has it’s positives for the senior, Sutton says. That is what makes the decision so difficult.
“Academics are very important to the family because they want him to be at the highest level with both school and athletics,” the coach said. “He wants to continue to go to a program where the make it a premium value on player development and build his skill level.”
