What Next For Mike Cook

Mike Cook, an underrated 6-4, 210 pound swingman from Philadelphia, Penn., is attending the New Hampton School in New Hampton, N.H. this fall.
Cook played last season at Friends Central H.S. in Wynnewood, Penn., and then enjoyed a terrific spring on the basketball circuit with Larry Waiters' Positive Image program. He played this summer for Greg Wright's Hunting Park Warriors program.

Cook was recruited heavily by Providence last winter and spring, and was also being eyeballed by East Carolina.
"I've heard rumors that West Virginia and Pittsburgh are interested in me too, but they haven't contacted me directly," he said.
Even though he is headed to prep school, Cook actually might have qualified academically this summer. He was enrolled in summer school at Friends Central, where he earned a pair of As to boost his overall core GPA in line with NCAA initial eligibility standards for college freshmen.
He is awaiting final word from the NCAA Clearinghouse on that issue, but he will still attend New Hampton this year regardless of his status. In fact, he's planning on taking the SAT again in November.
"I am hoping that the extra year will get me stronger, and ready for college both academically and physically ready for basketball," he said. "People have told me that you get a lot of exposure up there, so hopefully, more schools will look at me."
We will keep you posted on Cook's situation in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned.
