What Level For Dacons

Dion Dacons, a 6-6, 205-pound forward from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, recently scored a 1060 on his SAT. He also has an eye popping 3.8 GPA. So Dacons is likely to see many of the Ivy League schools as well as academically inclined programs to recruit him hard.
Dacons, who is from Statesville, North Carolina, actually had a very good junior year under head coach Steve Smith. "He was the first guy off the bench for us at the forward position," Smith said. "He played about 16 minutes a game and averaged almost seven points and five rebounds a game. If he has a great summer, he could see his list explode."

Right now, according to Smith, Dacons has expressed interest in Davidson, James Madison, Clemson, Old Dominion, VCU, Richmond, East Carolina, George Mason, UNC Wilmington and UNC Greensboro. "He's wide open," Smith said. "I think he will probably wait until the Fall before deciding." Smith said Dacons is the type of player who normally does most of his damage inside the paint.
"But if you play a motion offense, he can bounce out to the perimeter and be effective," Smith said. "So he does have some versatility to his game."
Smith added: "Dion has big hands and plays hard. He is going to play with the Charlotte Royals this summer so you will have a chance to watch him in action."
