What Level For Bashir

College coaches are likely to see Jim Salmon's two Playaz teams competing at several events this summer. The reason? Well, there is deep and great talent on both squads. And some of these players are going to be given a stage to determine how high they will be recruited at during the next three to six months.
One of those players is Bashir Mason, a lefty 6-0, 175 pound point guard from St. Benedict's Prep in Newark, N.J. RivalsHoops.com watched Mason play again this past weekend at the Southern Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia.

When Mason's game was on during the winter, St. Benedict's usually won. So he is certainly an important focal point for the teams he plays with.
Mason is a very effective passer in transition, he penetrates with his dribble, can draw defenders to him like bees to honey, and then has the vision to drop off passes to teammates for close in shots.
Mason reads defenses well and finds cutters to the hoop in half court sets, although he has a troubling tendency to attempt difficult contested shots on drives to the basket. So shot selection is a big focal point for college coaches when they watch Mason this summer. If he improves in this category, it's likely he will get some high division one offers.
Delaware and Ohio University have recruited Mason early while other major schools are expressing an interest in evaluating him this summer. Ohio State, Rutgers, Villanova, Virginia, and Syracuse are the schools Mason has told us he is interested in too.
These schools as well as other high majors will evaluate Mason for sure. It's now up to Bashir to determine how high he will actually go. He has a perfect stage to do so -- he plays with one of the best AAU programs in the country.
