Western Kentucky lands four-star Josh Anderson

Josh Anderson

Rick Stansbury and Western Kentucky have done it again. Already in possession of a commitment from 2017's No. 6 ranked player, Mitchell Robinson, the Hilltoppers added No. 43 Josh Anderson on Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Baton Rouge (La.) Madison Prep and his high school coach Jeff Jones confirmed the news to Rivals.com.

"He got it done," Jones said. "He went up and visited last weekend and he loved everything about the place. He loved the place, wanted to end the process and felt he could get everything he wanted to do done up there."

According to Jones, a long-standing relationship with WKU assistant Quannas White and extra work put in by another Hilltopper assistant, Shammond Williams, put them in great position to land Anderson during his visit.

"He had a really good relationship with those guys and really trusted in them," Jones said. "On his visit Coach Stansbury was able to close him."

For Anderson, the chance to play relatively close to home and have the ball in his hands were big factors. He said that he'll be used as a scorer from the wing and as a playmaker who will run the point at times.

On top of that, every guard loves to play with a great big man and the chance to team up with an elite interior prospect such as Robinson was just too much to pass up.

"It is a big relief," Anderson said. "I'm real excited about it. Me and Mitchell going up there and teaming up, I think we are are going to do something really big."
