Weekly Update: Thomas will decide Thursday

Every week Rivals.com gathers the latest scoop and news surrounding prospects and coaches and we've pieced together what we are hearing on some of the hottest names in the recruiting world at the moment below:
Lance Thomas: The recruiting saga of this highly-touted small forward from New Jersey is almost over. Rivals.com's No. 42-ranked prospect will be having a press conference on Thursday to announce whether he will attend Duke, Florida or Rutgers. Duke and Rutgers are considered the frontrunners. There is talk that his prep teammate and point guard Eugene Harvey, who is also considering Rutgers, will reveal whether he is going at the same time as well so it's a pivotal day for the Scarlet Knights.

Luis Colon: Interest in this senior post player from Miami has started to explode. Connecticut and Kansas State both offered scholarship offers earlier this week and visits to both programs are being scheduled. He recently returned from a visit to Duquesne and also holds an offer from Pittsburgh. K-State appears to be the favorite here because of the strong connections his AAU coach Art Alvarez has to Bob Huggins and Wildcats assistant Frank Martin. Five-star center Jason Bennett, who signed with the Wildcats soon after Huggins took over the program, played for Alvarez's Miami Tropics. Alvarez says that Colon is fully qualified.
Scottie Reynolds: A long list of schools have shown interest in the former Oklahoma signee since he received a release from his letter-of-intent earlier this week, but Michigan, LSU and the Sooners are drawing the most consideration right now. The Tigers are hosting good friend Darrell Arthur for an official visit this weekend and Reynolds is considering coming along too.
Tennessee's search for assistant coach: The Tennessean is reporting that three candidates are vying for the open spot on Bruce Pearl's staff – former Iowa State assistant Damon Archibald, former Ole Miss coach Rod Barnes and Bob Sundvold, the general manager and coach of the ABA's Kansas City Knights. Pearl met with Barnes and Archibald at the Houston Kingwood Classic last weekend and again with Archibald in Knoxville Wednesday.
