In a tough battle among Gonzaga, UNLV and Washington, Johnson sided with the Cougars.
"Coach (Ken) Bone and (assistant) coach (Curtis) Allen did a good job getting to know 'Que as a person," said Johnson's summer league coach, Clint Parks of Team Eleate. "In the end playing in the Pac-12 against some of the best players in the country and having an immediate impact were too much for him to pass up."
A 6-foot-5, 185-pound wing from Westwind Prep in Arizona, Johnson is a high riser on the national scene with athleticism and a high ceiling.
"I think he's going to surprise a lot of people over the next four years," said Parks. "His best basketball is still way ahead of him."
Johnson, the No. 77 prospect in the Rivals150, joins frontcourt players Richard Peters, Richard Longrus and Brett Boese in Washington State's 2012 recruiting class.
